I have been a practising nurse for over twenty-five years, specialising in human sexuality and sexual and reproductive health for twenty of those years and have seen many changes in that time. I am also a qualified sexual and relationship therapist and family planning nurse.
Prizes and Awards:
• 1999 - Highly Commended by the Secretary of State for Health in the Millennium Nurse of the Year Awards for my work with patients with Erectile Dysfunction (ED).
• 2005 - RCN/Wyeth Prize for innovative practice in sexual medicine.

My current working week comprises 4 days research at Glyndŵr University, Wrexham, North Wales www.glyndwr.ac.uk and 1 day practice (alternately for North Wales NHS Trust as a Nurse Therapist ED & Diabetes clinic, Ysbyty Glan Clwyd and Counselling Nurse pre-assessment abortion clinic for Western Cheshire PCT, Countess of Chester hospital). I have lectured at local, national and international conferences on the subject of human sexuality, sexual dysfunction and sexual and reproductive health issues and have published in peer reviewed journals on these topics. I am past Editor of The British Society of Sexual Medicine Newsletter www.bssm.org.uk. I am a current reviewer for the BMJ and Nurse Education Today.
